Our Mission: To promote plein air painting in the State of Washington by providing painting, learning, and exhibiting opportunities.

  • Olallie State Park and Iron Horse State Park

Our paint-outs at Olallie and Iron Horse State Parks were definitely dampened by the weather. At Olallie it rained most of the day. I really wanted to paint Twin Falls and trudged my way up there with watercolor gear only to find unrelenting rain. I even waited for a while hoping the rain would let up, but it never did. So back down the trail I went to find a spot under some trees along river. Painting in the rain with watercolor is not the best. I did however find some spots I'd like to return to in the sunshine - maybe later this summer.

The next day painters met in Cle Elum to paint at Iron Horse State Park. While their weather was dryer, word is it was both cold and windy. It's certainly not easy to be a plein air painter in Washington State! News of our State Parks theme is getting around. Two newspapers were there to see what we were doing. We're grateful for the publicity and hope that we get to find us painting in the sunshine soon.
