Our Mission: To promote plein air painting in the State of Washington by providing painting, learning, and exhibiting opportunities.

  • Our San Juan Island Paint Out and Show

Plein Air Washington Artists’ Exhibition at the San Juan Preservation Trust was our best show ever! There were so many compliments and exclamations over the quality of the work. Just a few of the paintings are represented in the slideshow above (please forgive the poor quality photos ). Congratulations to our award winners: Kathryn Townsend took first place, Steve Hill was awarded Second Place and Sylvia Carlton received Third Place. Twenty-six artists participated in all. There was a contingent of us on Lopez Island painting from morning till night during the week prior to the show. The weather cooperated nicely and the scenery was fabulous. We had a great week.

On Thursday evening we had a potluck and short meeting. You never know what you’re going to get when people are camping and staying in rentals, but we had quite a well-rounded feast. It was fun to get together with some new artists that we don’t often see. We look forward to having more of these get-togethers at upcoming paint-outs. It’s a great way to get to know each other.

If anyone would like to send in their photos, or share their stories from the their time in the San Juan’s, I’d be happy to post them.
