Our Mission: To promote plein air painting in the State of Washington by providing painting, learning, and exhibiting opportunities.

  • Painting at Deception Pass

It was dark when I arrived at Deception Pass Friday. No, it wasn’t night, the clouds were low and thick and there were no shadows. Fourteen Plein Air Washington Artists came to paint, bundled up against the cold, hoping the sky would clear and the wind would calm. Fortunately the sun did start to break through by lunch. The afternoon was much more pleasant. We all stuck around Bowman Bay, with beautiful scenes in every direction. A special thank you to Sharon Curran for hosting this event along with Pat Young and Sharon Denis. They had a table set up complete with coffee and cookies. I’m sure tomorrow will be just as much fun, maybe more since the sun should brighten things considerably.

I drove down to Bowman Bay today and could find no fellow painters anywhere! But the weather was perfect so I stayed and painted the beautiful scenery there. Also had time for a long walk on the beach. I had never been there before but I am sure I will return. It was lovely. Judy Baird
