Our Mission: To promote plein air painting in the State of Washington by providing painting, learning, and exhibiting opportunities.

  • September Letter from the President

I noticed yellow leaves falling in abundance this morning as I walked my dog. The forest is beginning to take on almost an autumnal appearance. Fall colors will be here before we know it. Just one more reason to get out and paint.

We have a good group signed up to paint at the Bloedel Reserve on Bainbridge Island this weekend. There’s still time to RSVP if you’d like to join us. Meet at the entrance to the Reserve each day at 10:00 am to learn about the day’s painting options. In addition to Bloedel, Bainbridge has other painting sites which you are welcome to paint. A meet-up is planned at Fay Bainbridge Park each afternoon at 4:30 to share the fruits of the day. A helpful reminder: bring Sylvia’s or Gillian’s cell phone number with you in case you need directions or have questions.

I hope you all received and opened the State Parks flyer I sent earlier this week. Just in case you missed it another one is attached. We are very excited about the State Park focus for next year. We hope individuals and groups in various parts of the state will get to their local parks on October 6 and 7 and get started painting. Please send me your photos and stories of your park painting adventures.

Looking ahead to the last weekend in October we have a special paint-out planned at the home of Jan Jewell in Lake Quinnalt. Jan will offer lodging on a first come first serve basis. When her place is full there are several other inexpensive lodging options that she can recommend nearby. All meals will be at her house. There is beautiful scenery in abundance and covered porches in the event of rain. More details will come via ping soon.

Mark your calendars for our annual Holiday Paint-In on Saturday, December 8 at ArtWorks in Edmonds, 10:00 – 4:00. This is always such a fun get-together; we hope you can join us.
