Our Mission: To promote plein air painting in the State of Washington by providing painting, learning, and exhibiting opportunities.

What is there to paint at St. Edwards State Park? That was a question I heard several times leading up to our recent paint out. I had never been there, so I didn’t know. I first noticed the architecture of the seminary. It was faintly reminiscent of Italy and I decided I had to tackle it sometime during the weekend. There are some wonderful angles and details and enough perspective challenges to keep an artist busy for a while. The grounds are surrounded by lovely trees which glowed in the sunlight and cast deep shadows along the ground. I could see there was more than enough for two days of painting. As with all of our paint-outs, part of the fun is meeting new people and trying new subjects, sharing ideas and simply having fun doing what we love to do. A convenient lineup of picnic tables made it easy for us to meet for lunch. A special thank you to our Paint-out Facilitators: Barbara Noonan and Blanche Niznik. Everyone received a friendly welcome, directions to the restrooms and picnic area – what more could you ask for? And while I could write a little more about some of our misadventures on Saturday ….I’ll skip that part. All’s well that ends well.

Technical problems are preventing me from loading all the photos I took. Hopefully there will be more very soon.
